messages

Manage messaging instances, connections, and local message history on the display or a VT100 terminal. Run messages without arguments to open the TUI. Existing messages subcommands remain available for shell and scripting use.

Press Tab to switch between Instances, Connections, and Messages. Use the arrow keys to select a row, Enter to open it, a for actions, and ? for help. f selects an instance or All instances. The selected instance is shared between tabs. Esc returns to the previous view; q closes the TUI.

• Instances: n adds an instance using a provider form, e edits its settings, and d removes it after confirmation. Select a field and press Enter to edit it in place with a visible insertion cursor; s saves the form. The other fields remain visible. Unchanged secret fields keep their saved values. Submitting an empty secret field clears it. Removal deletes local history, queued sends, settings, and credentials for that instance. A Deleting... popup stays visible while removal runs. Choose SC2 to enter a relay address such as chat.solar-os.eu:1337 (TLS), a full chats:// or chat:// URL, or a bare domain for signed HTTPS discovery. Domain discovery fills in the endpoint, TLS pin, relay signing key, and fallback relays. An admission code remains optional and must be supplied by the operator when required. The other optional fields are the TLS pin and relay signing key (base64). New SC2 instances start disabled. Changing the relay URL resets its TLS and signing-key pins unless you also edit those fields.
• Connections: c enables the selected instance and x disables it. s starts its background worker; the same action is in the a menu and connection details. Workers that are already running or waiting for memory are left active. A shared worker serves the enabled instances of its provider. Enter shows connection state, worker state, and errors. Enabling an instance and starting its worker are separate actions. Link transports prompt for the worker name and settings, as used after job start, for example radio-link mylink radio0 PROFILE chat=on or espnow-link mylink chat=on. Use the transport name saved in the Link instance.
• Messages: v cycles through conversations, unread messages, and the pending outbox. Enter opens conversation history or a message's full text. Page Up loads older records and Page Down loads newer records. c opens Chat for the selected conversation; closing Chat returns to this browser. r marks the selected conversation read. d deletes one selected local message after confirmation. A pending send must first be cancelled with x before its history can be deleted. Local deletion does not retract a remote message.
